We are looking back at Caitlin and David’s Suncadia Resort destination wedding from 2014. Caitlin and David chose the pacific northwest as their wedding destination because it’s where Caitlin had always pictured her wedding day as this is were her family was originally from. Their families are spread throughout the United States and they are settled in Washington DC. Planning a wedding from the other side of the country was challenging however Caitlin and her mom did it flawlessly. Every detail was created by Caitlin’s mom with perfection, the linens, napkins, and paper goods were all products of her love. I love the unique florals and the blues and purples that Caitlin selected. Being a part of their wedding day as their Day of Coordinator was an honor, I had so much fun executing and set up their vision for their wedding day, we hope you love viewing these images as much as we do!

One of the most recent trending topics in the wedding industry is the importance (or lack there of) of a wedding videographer. In fact I find myself having this discussion with most of my brides, so I figured it’s time for this topic to be addressed! So let’s be real- the debate comes down to money. Is a videographer worth my money? Why do I need a videographer when I already spent so much on a photographer? Don’t photographers and videographers basically capture the same moments? Well, the fact is there isn’t a black or white answer- I can only share from my own experiences. So here it is- a videographer is completely different from a photographer, and let me tell you why. Yes photographers and videographers may capture some of the same visual moments- but a photographer will never capture the inflection in your grooms voice as he says his vows. A photographer will never capture the humor in your best mans speech or the sway of your first dance. There are indescribable moments that happen during the beautiful whirlwind of your wedding day, that will inevitably be lost forever without a video clip to take you back to that exact moment time and time again. Now you might argue that your parents had their wedding ceremony filmed and they haven’t pulled their dusty VCR out in 20 years….I know this is the case for my parents. But this is exactly why the new trend is to get a wedding highlight film, because while you may never take the time to watch the full 4 hours of footage that encompass the entirety of your wedding ceremony/reception experience, I can almost guarantee that you will find countless moments to watch and re-watch a highlight film. This type of video is one that ranges anywhere from 5-15 minutes and will capture literally just the “highlights” of your day- the getting ready process, the first look, the walk down the aisle, your first kiss as husband and wife, the first dance and the toasts, etc. It is essentially 5-15 minutes of your favorite memories from the best day of your life. Who wouldn’t want that??? So now is the moment that I extend a huge shout out to our go-to videographer as wedding planners. This guy knows his stuff, and I have never had a bride regret her decision to spend the extra money to have him beautifully tie up her gorgeous wedding with a bow, and hand it back to her in 5 minutes of visual heaven. Let me introduce you to Denver Nathan Visuals, a Seattle based videographer who has traveled all over the west coast perfecting his skill and making brides dreams come true. Check him out at denvernathan.com or follow the link to his Vimeo attached below. Seriously do it. What are you waiting for?

About Elaine + Roberts Wedding Day
We are posting about Elaine and Robert’s July wedding today to tell them CONGRATULATIONS! They are expecting a sweet baby boy this coming June. Elaine and Robert’s wedding was very special to me as I also have the privilege of being Tayden (Elaine’s Daughter’s) cheerleading coach. It was a day that simple but captured their style perfectly, it felt as through you were walking into Elaine’s home. She spent over a year collecting, decorating and making all of the items for her wedding from the chalk boards, garlands and jars on the tables to the table runners and the sweet fabric ceremony garland. We loved watching this day come to life and see the love of family that they have surrounding them as they join into this new life and adventure together! Plus check out that AMAZING sunset!

HEATHER’S FAVORITE THINGS:
I am madly in love with my husband Denver and our life together. We are surrounded by incredibly supportive family and friends, and we are forever grateful for that. I am passionate about creating, and I have a serious kick for health and fitness. The early morning is my favorite time of the day and I will always choose sweet over sour. Always.
WHY IS HEATHER A WEDDING AND EVENT PLANNER?
I have always been deeply involved in the intricacies of life and cannot seem to get enough of the joy that comes from a fuller wedding day and or special event. After planning my own wedding I knew that this was an industry that would allow me to help others experience that kind of joy, and I cannot think of a better way to spend my days then to do just that.
WHAT MAKES HEATHER QUALIFIED TO BE YOUR PLANNER?
I received my BA in Psychology, while simultaneously being the event coordinator for my university in Orange County, California. After falling in love with planning university events, I shifted my Psychology degree so that my emphasis was geared on the Industrial Organizational (IO) spectrum. Studying IO taught me the importance of creating a room to feel a specific way depending on what you hope to accomplish- which is why I love planning weddings. Each bride has a unique desire to feel a certain way on her special day as well as create an atmosphere for her guests to feel a certain way. I simply love having the opportunity to make that desire a reality.
WHAT IS HEATHER’S FAVORITE PART ABOUT BEING A PLANNER?
My absolute favorite part of any event is the finished product. The look on a clients face when they see their venue for the first time and all of the pieces coming into place is unbeatable. I love seeing eyes light up as each layer of the event unfolds, and the intricate detail of months of planning come to life.
About Becca and Poppe’s Wedding Day:
Becca and Poppe were so fun to work with, as you can tell they did not want your typical wedding. Becca wanted bright red and purples with hints of their favorite sport, Baseball. They wanted the day to be simple and about having fun with their family and friends, they certainly achieved that! From singing “Take Me Out to the Ball Game”and playing musical chairs to having their close friends and family prepare an amazing assortment of pies and desserts and Poppe’s home brew as their beverage of choice there was no question who’s wedding we were at. As always we were honored to be a part of their special day!

Melissa and Pedro’s Wedding was a beautiful mix of personal details, their love of their Puerto Rican culture and pure wedding beauty. From the photos and articles from their Grandparents weddings to the sweet childhood photos of Melissa and Pedro down the aisle there was no doubt who’s wedding you were at. The entire day was sprinkled with details and traditions from the Puerto Rican culture, from music and dancing to tasty streets and funny signs that did not allow you to forget what kind of party you were at. The peach and pinks of the ceremony flowers by Geneva Floral Designs were the perfect compliment to the stunning outdoor ceremony space of Laurel Creek Manor. This wedding was such a joy to be a part of, I am honored to have gotten to know such a sweet and loving couple.
